Hi, I'm Kim.
I picked up a camera for the first time as a child. I took some basic photography classes in high school but I was always more focused on creative things that offered immediate results. Spending time in the dark room was never my idea of fun. The time I spent at the light table cutting and pasting and creating complete images was infinitely more satisfying.
I remember being on vacation with my mom and sister the day after I graduated from high school and taking pictures with an old Kodak Instamatic 154 in St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. I did my best to capture memories of that vacation and I still treasure those pictures to this day. I grew up surrounded by photo albums but that was the first time that I was able to make my own album from pictures that I had taken myself. It was gratifying to see and feel those pictures and I don't think that enough kids today get to experience that feeling of permanence.
Fast forward through my kids growing up blessed with a grandmother who took really good pictures with a really good camera. Thankfully... she always got double prints. My kids' lives were fully documented even if the pictures are still in boxes and not in cute books like I always planned to do for them. At least the prints are still there.
In 2013 I met the man of my dreams and rediscovered photography. This time around though, it was everything that I didn't get from it as a teenager. Digital photography allows for that instant gratification but at the same time, allows me to be creative with other tools to make really cool things happen.
And still... the prints. Everything is so fleeting these days. Spend the money. Get the book. Let us take care of the design and you just enjoy the memories for the rest of your life.
